TELEPORTATION DIARY
When I started this project, I just wanted to put myself in unusual conditions. I shot videos during my travels and country walks using an old mini DV camera, then I edited the video without music, and then recorded a soundtrack in real time for the edited material, creating an unusual musical form.
At first glance all this may seem like a surreal pastime not to be taken seriously, but I have always felt some kind of importance attached to this project. I thought and wrote a lot about it, and it became a passion for me.
Just recently, after having rewatched all the episodes of "Teleportation Diary", I suddenly realized what it was all about. It was in fact a very special method of psychotherapy through the creation of art.
I am a provincial who lived in a small town in the Far East until the age of 17, in almost wild nature. I spent my free time on the hills in the forest or by a mountain river. Then the city entered my life. First it was Khabarovsk, and now it has been 12 years since I moved to St. Petersburg. Today I consider myself a city dweller, but the province of the Far East with its wild beauty and silence is the foundation of my works – the foundation which I have not forgotten but often failed to accept as a value.
Each episode is filled with landscapes, greenery, and water textures.
In the seventh and final episode of the Diary, I, “the city dweller", return to my hometown of Oblutchye and look through the camera lens at myself, “the original villager", sleeping on the water in a provincial landscape that I love with all my heart. This is my acceptance.
Surprisingly, all this happened unconsciously, I would even say, in an automatic writing mode.
Anyway, these are my thoughts, dear friends. Creativity is a great power!
Enjoy listening and watching!
